Only roughly, for small slim fish. Waste grows with body mass, not length, so one 6-inch fish loads a tank far more than six 1-inch fish. The calculator uses mass and your filter instead.
What does the bioload percentage mean?
Waste the fish make against what the tank and filter clear. Under 90% is comfortable, 90–150% works with strict weekly water changes, above 150% is overstocked.
Why does a bigger filter change the result?
The filter’s bacteria turn ammonia into nitrate. More flow and media carry more fish, up to what the water volume itself allows.
How many neon tetras in a 10 gallon tank?
Around 8–10 on their own with a decent filter. Add them here with your other fish to see the real number for your setup.
